ancient teachings at my fingertips

My name is Liz McLaughlan. I graduated from Irene’s Myomassology Institute in 2020, where I spent 700 hours in the classroom learning massage techniques including 75 hours of supervised clinical experience.

I graduated from Michigan State University with a Biology major and Chemistry minor, and went on to teach high school Science for two years. During that time, my interest and passion shifted toward health and fitness, which drove me to open my own CrossFit gym.

I have owned and coached at Five Lakes CrossFit for going on 10 years, and throughout that time have developed an intimate understanding of proper body mechanics and how movement can be used for healing.

As both a coach and an athlete, I have witnessed and experienced the healing benefits of massage. When my clients come to me seeking relief from gym or work related aches and pains, I have consistently referred them to massage.

While working with my CrossFit clients, I found myself becoming more and more curious about the relationship between movement patterns and the associated aches and pains my clients indicated. This curiosity launched my expansion into the massage therapy world.

The addition of massage therapy to my repertoire has allowed me to address areas of concern in my clients, friends and family; and I am excited and honored to carry the teachings from Irene’s to anyone who seeks it.
